Who is Dr. Joyce J. Dorsey?
For more than three decades, Dr. Joyce J. Dorsey has fought for the well being of others. Commonly and appropriately
referred to as a champion for change, she speaks with authority on issues that affect humankind, particularly
the poor and disenfranchised. From the church to the civic group, she speaks with fervor, motivation and truth.
Today,
Joyce is President and CEO of The Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority (FACAA), a nonprofit organization that annually
serves more than 30,000 individuals and families by helping them become self sufficient. Employed by FACAA since its inception
in 1991, Joyce reconstituted the community action organization into one that is viable and financially sound. Such leadership
brilliantly illuminates Joyce’s efficient use of public funds and her ability to create a team to effectively implement
the strategic plan of the organization.
Joyce earned a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College, a Master’s
degree in Social Work from Atlanta University and a Doctorate degree in Biblical Studies from North Carolina’s
College of Theology. Her career reflects significant strides in social work, corrections, entrepreneurship and the nonprofit
sector. Joyce is active in numerous community organizations, and is a proud mother and grandmother.
